October 8-11, 2010 Sales Tax Holiday:
Energy Star and WaterSense Qualified Products

Dear Friends:

Virginia's fourth Energy Star and WaterSense products sales tax holiday will begin Friday, October 8th and continues through Monday, October 11th.

During this tax holiday, consumers can purchase a variety of energy saving products without paying the 5% state and local sales tax. The tax-exempt items include dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators, air conditioners, ceiling fans, compact fluorescent light bulbs and programmable thermostats that carry the Energy Star designation.

The tax-exempt WaterSense items include bathroom sink faucets, faucet accessories, and toilets. Products must cost $2,500 or less each and be purchased for non-commercial or personal use.

Using these products will help conserve our natural resources, reduce our energy consumption and lower our utility bills.

You can review the complete list of eligible products and review the guidelines for consumers at www.tax.virginia.gov.  Just click on the Sales Tax Holiday logo under Announcements, or you can click here and go directly to their page.

This is a great opportunity to save money on energy efficient items that will help keep your utility bills low as we head in to the colder months.
