Senator Wagner appointed to Chair Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee and two Subcommittees
  
7th District Senator also tapped to serve on Committees on Commerce & Labor, Finance, Rules and Transportation
  

Richmond, Virginia, 11 January 2012: Senator Wagner (R-Virginia Beach) was appointed today to serve on five Standing Committees in the Senate of Virginia. Senator Wagner was named to the Rehabilitation and Social Services, Commerce & Labor, Finance, Rules, and Transportation Committees. In addition to serving as the chairman of both the Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee and the Transportation subcommittee of Transportation, Senator Wagner was also appointed by the chairman on Finance to be subcommittee chairman of Transportation. 

 

“I’m honored,” remarked Senator Wagner, “to be appointed as chairman of a full committee and two subcommittees this session.”

 

The Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee reviews legislation including the sale and regulation of alcohol, and the administration of social service and corrections. The Commerce and Labor Committee considers legislation relating to Virginia’s businesses, including regulatory policy, workplace relations, and consumer affairs. The Finance Committee reviews legislation relating to taxes and spending, and is responsible for crafting the Commonwealth’s budget. The Rules Committee reviews appointments, Senate Memorializing and Commending Resolutions, and matters related to the operation of the Senate and the General Assembly. The Transportation Committee reviews legislation relating to Virginia’s roadways, transit systems, shipping and trucking, railways, and airports. 

   

Senator Frank W. Wagner is serving his 4th term in the Senate of Virginia, and represents the 7th District. The 7th District includes portions of Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
